“She is an absolutely liar!” A woman, most probably the man’s wife said so to her husband to get me.  

“No, I am not. But you are using bad language and you are not well-nurtured.” I replied. “And my husband will proof this cart is ours.”

My husband was not with me at the moment -  he was at the CD section, trying to get one for the weekend.

The woman attacked me again in the same way of speaking to her husband on the surface, but to attack me, “She is ugly.”

I replied in the same way as I did last time, “I am not, but you are ugly, from inside to the outside.” I didn’t give in or give up until my husband showed up. I explained the situation to him in a sec. He went directly to the man, face to face, and said, “that’s our cart, the flier is the proof ” with calmness and bravery. The man said to my husband to go away from him. My husband replied with wit and firmness, “who do you think you are to tell me to go away? I am not yelling, I am not using bad language. It’s your wife who is using bad language and yelling. She is not helping to solve the problem.”

The wife said that my husband was ugly, too and if my husband didn’t walk away, she would tell somebody that my husband assalted her. (What? Is it a good lie?)

Right away, the wife was so beside herself. She shouted: “I am going to call the manager!” (Why manager?) I followed up immediately, “DO IT, JUST DO IT. Call whomever you are able to call!”

Both the husband and wife finally realized that their matches were not easily to be conquered or beaten, they walked away.

On our way to the airport to pick up my sister in law and her husband, we talked about the whole dispute. It was a great experience of fighting, an advanture, a lot of fun! We won it, for sure, but the whole thing was sort of unnecessary: the couple should think reasonable with their brain – I would not lie for a cart, and I would not shop at costco without a cart; or they could take it easy and said it was OK that they could get another cart, instead of using bad language to attack me which shows they are not bright. They might have had a bad time before shopping. They must feel very upset about their loss if they are smart enough (or maybe not). People vary. There was another choice: I gave up the cart to them, even though I was sure I left the cart there. I don’t doubt that they got their cart and someone else may take one of our carts!

What was great last night was — everybody loved my food of “火烧”! One of my step son did, my sister in law did, my husband said so (I am not sure he really liked it, but he always says great words about my cooking).

David plodded down 53rd avenue with all the grace of a shopping cart with one stuck wheel: at five-six and two hundred pounds, he moved with the speed and agility of a ’73 Dodge Dart — sluggish at best. His hair was styled by years of indifference and denial, as the strands of grease-glazed hair had been recklessly glazed over, unsuccessfully covering his conspicuous baldness. Who do the combed-over crowd think they’re fooling anyway? Flaps of hair frequently freed themselves from his sweaty scalp and danced around on the top of his head as if calling for help and emancipation from the Brill-creamed cranium. David had seen this phenomenon happen to his father and had surrendered at a young age to his legacy of genetic betrayal. His skin had the texture of congealed tapioca pudding and appeared to be sliding off his face, as if it too were repulsed by that which it enveloped. His nose defied symmetry and discretion, but remained his only ally since it could no longer detect the toxic odor of stale urine and mothballs, and the last 13 years of hygienic neglect.

Once there was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence.

The first day the boy hammered 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and his father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and one day the young boy told his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. The fence would never be the same. “When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like those nails,” his father said.
